Your intention is good, but maybe you can get up even earlier The light is already quite contrasty. Since it is coming from a low angle (with the ground), the texture of the sand is nicely visible here. I like the warm light too. As for the composition, try to put your subject off the centre. If your lens permits it, you could try to get somewhat closer too.

Looks like a cold day to be out fishing! The seagull must know that this is where the fish come from! hahahaha This looks a little soft... could be the scan though. As well, keep an eye on the background... that wooden pole in the middle really distracts me.

The light is just spectacular here. Just look at the long shadows of the group of buildings and the light coming from the background reaching the snow on the foreground. The foreground does it for me ! Too bad of the black road, where I can not see much detail. Maybe you could have removed it by choosing a lower point of view ?
