Hi Ray - No filters on the camera but I did heighten the contrast a bit in PhotoPaint. Thanks for viewing and for the input.

Paul - I shot almost directly into the sun and then cropped the sun out! I did intensify the colors a bit in Photo-Paint but nothing else! I suspect that the "light-leak" effect is from the sunlight "bouncing" around inside the lens at the time I snapped this! Thanks for the comments!

Great light and technically excellent. I agree with Steve on the composition. Just a little bit of the ground to tell the viewer where it is and to give a sense of the vastness of the sky would definitely help.

IMO, very nice color, light, and sky, but in search of a composition. It needs something to anchor it and provide the viewer sustenance.

very pretty and exposed very well, though.

I would really like to know how this was done. I was going to say it was a light leak on the film, but your shooting digital.

Really like your photo. Good photo journalism...Makes me wonder about..who came here? what was this place like when it was busy? how long ago was that? where is this place? Photo evokes all kinds of questions and kinda takes me "there" ..wherever "there" is...stimulates the imagination.

Frank,

It seems strange not having a planet or moon coming up over the horizon in one of your shots. As far as the power pole and air conditioner, I think it adds irony to the composition and should stay. The old gas pumps, the old scraggley building and weeds but with the modern comforts of a/c. Yeah, I like it. By the way, I have enjoyed your work!

Interesting location. Would like to see more under different lighting conditions if you can return. Something with the sun lower in the sky (morning or evening - less shadows) would work better for me.

Interesting, well-exposed photo. The scraggly tree complements the scraggly building.

Corrections in photoshop (or other photo editor) might not be your thing, but I think I would have removed the electric pole and wires on the right, and the air conditioner on the roof.

You have a good eye for catching a unique cloud formation. A good example of a photo expressing the concept of "power". Nice job.

Frank. This is one of your better ones. As J. D. McDonald (Travis McGee) once said: you have to suspend disbelief. This one comes close. You have talent--don't stop.

Mary Sue - Sorry to disappoint you but I was not in the water itself - but at the Long Beach Aquarium looking up from underneath a large open-top open-air tank! The subject is a 6-foot shark and the lighting was noon-sun almost straight overhead! I used to both scuba-and-snorkel until I dropped a weight belt and came up too fast - that wrecked not only my sinus but any hopes of a diving career - so now I go to aquariums for my underwater shots (like the Dragonfish shot I also posted to usefilm.com yesterday)!

Hints, please. You say you took this with an E10, but you are clearly looking up at a swimming creature. How did you shoot this, through glass? What was your water depth, exposure/shutter, etc. My E10 water shots were only blue blur, very disappointing, although we were about 100 feet down, shooting through thick glass. Great silhouette!

Frank I like this one a lot. I still think it needs a few aliens in the forground having a picnic or some such thing.

Was great meeting you and your family, hope we can do it again some time.
