...your shots are all pretty powerful John, I liked this composition because the foot prints add a nice dimension to the story, the way the two larger rocks are seen to the right of the frame is really good, law of thirds!.....all good, well done.cheers, david.

The blue and white of the shells on the sandy yellow of the rock is very affective...

Hi John, I think I like this best of the 4 shots. I wonder how this shot would look if you brought the camera even closer to the foreground. There is so much detail in the foreground with the sea grass and the water flowing over the rocks, the sky is not the point of interest here (IMO). Great shot. Regards, Collin.

Well done combination. I'm fairly certain that Manuel was not referring to a Gaussian blur. A slight blur along the edge would lose the slight halo around the rocks which seems most visible around the yellowed sun area but it's a minor issue. Probably a superior way to deal with that would be an approximately 2 pixel feather before combining the two shots. I have a shot in my San Francisco portfolio called "The Rock" which also has combined two shots . . . one being the sky. There I used a 2 pixel feather to prevent the dreaded halo effect and it worked nicely. Pretty much trial and error . . . sometimes you need more feathering . . . seldom (in my case never) . . . less. This is done quite nicely.

Nice shot John and congrats on the double awards. Clearly caught the eye of a judge but I would prefer the stone being off-center. In my opinion, that would make this already good shot into a better one. Certainly scenic, never-the-less! :)
