Marc -- Nice balance to this image, both in division by the reflection line and in tonal mirroring. I especially like the way the mist against the far end of the lake plays into the composition, softening that transitional zone between real and reflected. Great image! Nice work!

Cheers,
-Mike.

Marc -- Great capture! The thing I like best about this one is the energy conveyed by the waves jetting straight up as they break against those rocks. Great choice of shutter speed. As usual in your images, all compositional elements are well worked: the gentle C curve, the contrast of dark-to-light focusing your eye on the water jets, and the total absence of unnecessary elements. Two thumbs up, and glad to see your work posted here. It is most inspiring (and thanks, again, for adding technical notes on the making!).

Cheers,
-Mike.

You obviously have put in a lot of dedication in capturing this shot.

I only wish I could see it on a larger scale, so that I can better see its qualities.

I do like the symmetry the almost-vertical monoliths and the spray offer.

Can also imagine that it must be a special place that you never get tired of visiting!

Best wishes, Alice.

Marc, it's good to see you back with your wonderful imagery. Where have you been? We missed your fabulous capture and control of light, especially the LANDSCAPE shots. You gave me some good advice when we were on another site and am most grateful. Best Wishes for the Season

JD

There is so much that is appealing in this image. I think that what I find so interesting in your images is the whole feast. You give us more than is nice mountain or a pretty reflection, your images are packed with exciting detail and colour, they take time to wander through. I really appreciate the time you have taken to write about what you do, I am keen to learn all I can about landscapes. Thankyou. CC

Stunning work. I admire anyone who can create magic from the environment. You do so, so elegantly! I am primarily a portrait photographer trying her hand at landscapes. I have a lot yet to learn and am inspired by your work. Thankyou. CC

Reminds me of the Eastern sections of Capitol Reef National Monument in Southern Utah, except Oregon's painted hills seem more photogenic . . . It's a very dramatic sky, with colors to rival the hills beneath. Great work!

Cheers,
-Mike.

Marc, great shot. How did you get the 4 stop ND filter to blend so well? Did you have to recover any detail afterwards? I usually get some drastic color shift if I use a 4 stop grad. Are you using a Singh Ray filter?

Wow incredible shot, the balance of light between the land and sky is perfection. If it were mine I would rotate it a little to straighten the horizon. Beautiful!

This shot reminds me of a movie from '88, perhaps you saw it, Powaqqatsi?

Truly, an amazing photograph you have here.

Well done!
