...Ah, the SX-70...was a time when the "Sneaky Pete" would pull that one out after dating a "Miss" long enough for some "Artistic Shots" . The one's that wouldn't have to pass over the curious eyes of the folks working the drug store counter - those were the days....Que Pasa New York? - John Lennon (CB, I think you missed my "Dark Places 4" - also in NYC. About 10 back now I think) Mark

Hi Stefan, So? Shouldn't that be a sign for you? They're still available on ebay... :-) Has a very limited DOF, good working auto mode and a superbright viewfinder with split focusing help. Really nice to work with it and folds small. Here, for the time-zero (instant = no mess) a 10-pack costs $12 at B&H; which is kinda OK. Thinking about transfers, but I'm not so sure if this is really my thing...
Take care! CB

Everything everyone else has said about the SX-70 colour palette is true. There's a delicate, washed-out quality to it that makes it feel dated, left out on a ledge in the sun and forgotten. Love the angling of the image in the centre and as I look at that particular one I find it fascinating that the cab seems super-saturated while the van on the right is almost completely washed out. That's SX-70 for you. So sad that they're pulling the plug on it but I guess the writing has been on the wall for awhile (especially when Kodak has decided to flush their B&W paper division ). Beautiful triptych my friend, love to see you continuing to post this kind of work. cheers Russ

Going for some lunch later in the day the guy who seated me commented on the camera I was carrying (Yashica Electro 35) and mentioned that he was currently using a SX-70 for a little project. First time I knew about it by name and it turns up twice within a couple hours :-) He was using 600 film, apparently just jamming it in there (didn't know if his cam was modified or not...) Cool stuff at any rate. Maybe you can try some polaroid transfers too?

Great presentation with the classic polaroid colour palette. It kind of reminds me of New York in the 30's ....... not that I was ever there then.

Very nice perspective shifts across these three. Helps me really preuse the image to have the closest view central, I can go back there. Congrats on these colours yes very retro palette as Stefan said. Thanks for the view Carlheinz. One day I'll get there.
