Fantastic workwith contrasts and light, Paul! I love the weird tree-like columns, and the dizzying floor pattern that seems to go in all directions. Superb composition and study in B & W! Best regards, Ina

Greating lighting and silhouettes Paul, he really has that, 'let's see now where did I leave it' stance, I recognize it from personal experience, hahaha, the patterns on the floor and the tones work really well here, also the swirling effect of the patterns on the floor directly in front of him, for me represent confusion, and echo the sentiments of this image, well done!

Technically this is magnificent. I love it for that. Also, artistically it is beautiful. I love the shapes and tones. The silhouette of the man adds a lot -- he's just in the right spot compositionally. Way to go! You don't post a lot, but when you do you like to post with a punch! Antonia

My Golly... you have effectively captured a handsome sight... for what is otherwise a terrbly stark-cold-unattractive center...

There may be not so many members here who know the venue... but not one of the best that Montreal has to offer.

To think of the wonderful designers in Montreal... that such an ugly conference center could be created.

compliments

It can be a challenge to place your own work and mark on much photographed city locations, and you did it, this is a magnificent architecture shot where the work of exposure and preparation makes this capture a super B&W subject. Saeed

Hi Paul, nice work with a difficult lighting situation. Really pleased to see you on the front page today with a good critique! I've been working on a project of my own lately so i've had little time for UF. Hope to change that maybe one day :) Hope all is well with you. Best wishes from Switzerland.

Hi Paul,

the title is wisely chosen for the composing. I love that bold fat outcome - you know that =) the complexity with the reflections on the floor, the mess of different geometry elements and the human single element is quite a pleasure to view. the weird framing also adds to the image. good work!

best wishes, Thilo

I was hoping that the comment from you (thanks) meant you'd posted another photo. This is super, Paul, among your best. Really excellent work. Particularly with such a wide range of tones to render... A visually very satisfying image. Another for my favourites.
