Yes, I think the lighting is gorgeous. It is a bold move but like Luis said, it really works with her expression and 'attitude'. I'm not an experienced portrait shooter like you clearly are (peeped your portfolio), so my only 'criticism'/question is whether the lens distortion works in your favor in this shot. Maybe there is in fact none and it just looks that way because of the pose. *shrug*
Either way, it doesn't really detract from what is a fantastically lit shot, imo.

I definetly like the gold tone of it. It makes the woman look much more imposing and conscious of herself.
I recently bought two canon speedlites which I will soon be using. As soon as I get some nice results I will post the pics. I will definetly be inspired by this one, and I will try the gold trick as well

well Luis I used a standard 580 flash with a little bit of yellow cellephane over it to get a golden look, but then when I got back to my computer I noticed I may have used to much cellaphane so I had to apply a photoshop cooling filter on it, thats why the water is sooo blue and she is sooo gold. Im glad you like because I was a little 50 50 about this photo.

Great shot! I love the lighting, it focuses the eye onto the model. Id be interested in knowing what lighting you use and how did you did!?
