Ana Martins: O nome científico é "Delonix regia" e ocorre no Brasil e na África. O nome flamboyant, segundo lenda, teria sido dada pelo francês Villegaignon ao tomar a Baia de Guanabara em nome da França Antártica. Teria sido levada à Africa pelos franceses. Em Paris há alguns exemplares às margens do Sena. É uma leguminosa, cujas grandes vagens escuras podem ser vistas na foto.
