Dan - this is about as good of a portrait as I've ever seen. I can't think of anything that would improve it.
How did your friend Ed react to seeing this? I imagine he would be very happy wit it.
I get the feeling from your portrait that Ed is a generous and friendly guy and competent at what he does for a living. A very warm portrait with a nice feeling of underlying dignity.

P.S. - as an aside, your portrait makes me realize what a good portrait lense the Canon 50mm is on one of these 6MB Canon SLRs -- the 1.6 cropping factor makes it act like an 80mm lens on 35mm film - a great portrait (effective) focal length... and I think this lens is only $70 or so brand new??
