Thanks for your opinion, Ray. The colour version shows that NY is only grey in peoples' minds!

Great monochromatic tones AJ. I am working in reverse, as I try to catch up following my seasonal break, so I have yet to see the colour version. Reading that which has been said I have to agree with you NY is very grey in parts and London is no different. It is a long time since me and a camera visited The Great Grey and apart from one or two instances I have always gone mono in that place.
A belated Happy New Year to you my friend. My very best wishes as always.....Ray

Smoke stacks or stem pipes; who knpows? And van is just as good as truck.

Many thanks for your opinion, Jan. I had visualised many of the NY shots even before leaving home, and I must say that my preconception of the street scenes was B&W.

But I can see that I have the terminology wrong: for me that's a van not a truck! And what do you call those orange and white chimneys?

AJ-
I have to go with the B&W; it has a timeless quality, where the shape, movement and image are more important than the color. My brain already tells me that the cab is yellow and truck is brown -- who needs color anyway! :) :)
--Best wishes,
Jan

Yup, I'm with you there, John - that cab has gotta be yellow!

hmmmm...nice, however I believe that I feel like lost something... that yellow on the cab needed for me hahaha.... kidding, it's very nice also in greyscale.
be well AJ!

Thanks aZiz - you sum up the contradiction exactly.

Thanks Riny. But my vision of NYC is grey streets with flashes of colour, created by the taxis and steam vents among other things. So the contradiction here is that the photo may be better in B&W but it no longer represents my vision...

I like the BW version more than colored one.
But, here the yellow cab and orange stack are not NY icons any more.

Aziz
