Hi Todd:

I disagree with Matt. I find the textured wall/rock used for the shadow play fascinating in its own right. The topic is universal, ie. it's what kids do when they make shadow puppets, and the simple pose with your subject facing away from the camera, IMP, moves this beyound a snapshot and into the realm of documentary photography.

Todd. (re: your Forum PS post!)

I'm sure somewhere in the wind and the shadows one could find some positivity.... I however searched hard and after 10 mins just had to give up. I bet it's your wife/girlfriend or sister. It's gotta be that personal connection that makes you like the shot I think. Anyway keep 'em rolling and let me know when you want a detailed no holds barred critique.

By the way - what is the shadow meant to be??? It reminds me of when I was a kid and tried to create an Elephant or some flying birds in my shadow - always badly of course, still your mum would always give you praise none the less!

Todd (see comments on your forum question).

This photo is poor and not really very imaginative in my opinion. You've had the idea to take a photo using a shadow... found a wall.... popped a person in the frame.... and suggested a pretty stupid pose. The grass is distrcting on the btm, the wind doesn't really add anything to the photo. Yes it covers the subjects face but is this for any apparent reason. The clothes of the subject are dull/bland. Everyone wears jeans and a jacket. If you wanted wind, shadows and people perhaps B&W, flowing clothes and an interesting setting should have formed the basis of the shoot. I appreciate some of your better images so please don't feel victimised - to critique a bad photo takes more balls than a good one and usually gives the photographer more idea about what's good and what's not.

Who are these idiots critiquing this as great. T Glow - he has great work.... how can he think this is great. Copy, paste, spam - wow now you've got 3 more Kama points. Does this make your life complete????????

Sorry that's just my opinion.

Matt
