Wow, what a great POV, the use of DOF rocks in this image.
Great work.

I thought this was a doll from the thumbnail. Re your conversation with Avi - I assumed the foreground body part was a blanket which, with the hand in the background gives the impression of the face being swaddled and adding to the tenderness of the image.
Regards, Gary

I know. Sometimes it happens because the photographer was there.. where the viewer is far away. It is our constant attempt to bridge the gap !

cheers :)

well "the little bit of the body part" is just the fathers left arm and yes you are right I thought the same when i saw the image in the computer, however in the end i think it's not so bad cause gives the idea that the father is rocking the boy or protecting with his arms; I don't lose the sense of serenety for that however I'd too prefer this without the arm in the foreground
take care....txules

ohh of course you can !!.. :):) ..

I will tell you exactly what bothers me about this shot. The little bit of the body part (or is it something else?) in the foreground, before it leads to the face completely cuts through the sense of serenity that this shot otherwise portrays. But (and here's the frustrating part) I cannot suggest a crop, since that will crop a the entire chin and maybe part of the lip too, which would completely spoil the shot. I know, this is really disgusting nitpicking (I often hate it when it happens in my shots.. he he) but my eyes are getting stuck because of that part.

It is stopping me from feeling an emotion. And that, as you once said, is VERY VERY important for me in a photograph.

Best,
Avi

Hi Avi, my favourite? not sure, actually i do not think of my images in terms of favourites; this is nice for me but good?, that's why i post here to read your comments; I uploaded this because belongs to a series, I took several pictures like this, different angles, different DOFs, different position of tha hand.... which is the best? (if there is any good one); many people post similar images, can't I do the same? sometimes series are a bit boring, I know
peace

the focus and the lighting are amazing as also the point of view that looks like lower and so closed to the face, the result is at least dramatic and that is fantastic for me... excellent in greyscale of course.
best regards!

The pov is beautiful. The pout of the mouth and those lashes create a stunning shot...very well seen.
