Marvelous image by composition and color tones (thanks HDR). Interesting reference to HDR software I will try once too!
Because you put your image in a critiquer's corner, here is one: what trouble me a little (little bit) is the right branch coincides (I mean : is right upon) partly with the horizon of the prairie. I hope you understand what i mean.
Congratulations with such a beautiful picture!
Best regards, Jan

Hi Jen

Well on days when the lighting is a bit flat but the sky is a bit broody I will take shots over a range of exposures to try and capture both the light and dark areas that you cannot normally get in a single shot due to the limitations of digital sensors. I then load 3 images at different exposures into Dynamix Photo HDR (Free trial available at http://www.mediachance.com)to produce an image that then has a greater tonal range. Initially the preview image looks rubbish as your monitor can show all the tones so you then "Tone Map" the image. I find the preset "Eye Catching" produces less extreme results, just make sure you increase the brightness and reduce the colour saturation settings. This technique is always good for beefing up a moody sky. If you have a go let me know how you get on.

Regards

Mark
