I think I posed the question not very understandable so I pose it again. But some explanation first.
The portraits in professional photography are never made having the models posing but having them doing something else. Professional photographers just give their models some directive, so for example to read something, or to take a look at something. The models do not just sit and take some pose or some specific face expression, but rather move and do what they also do when they are not photographed. The more natural they bahave, the better the photo.
Now, of course as the model moves, or turns the head, or looks in some direction, and the like, the face expression changes, the light and shadow propeortions change too, and many other things. The challenge here is to catch the very best moment when the portrait has the best possible light, expression, etc. Actually, every photographer that does portraits knows what a change can take place in one tenth of a second in the expression of some person.
To do that there are two ways. Either the photographer sets the camera to continuous shooting - one photo after the other - and after the photo shooting he/she decides which photo is the best. This is why you hear the continuous click-click-click in such photo sessions of fashion. The camera is shooting one photo after the other and the photographer hopes to capture *one* moment that gives *the* photo.
The other way is to just wait and observe and "predict" that the next moment will be the best, and then shoot. This is actually done very often by photographers that work in the fields of journalism. Those guys seem to know when the person will look best - when dramatic and tension will be at their maximum - and similar things. So they wait for that moment and then shoot s small series of photos, say, 3 or 4. One of them is the best. They use their experience to just "foresee" what will take place in the next small time interval.
So, the question was, which one of the two techniques described above do you use? According to your answer I guess you mean the second. What you describe as "taking photos by heart" is simply the experience that allows the phoptographer (in this case you) to "foresee" what will happen in the next few tenths of a second. Should this be the technique you use, then it means that you already developed the "eye" for the moment, which is a very valuable skill.
So, after all that blabla, is that your technique?

Well, I prefer to :"catch": the right moment, I mean I love shots when I just say : Look at me !!! and that is where the beauty is hidden in my opinion. I do not like my models posing for me. I like everything what is natural and spont.
I take my photos more with the heart than with the mind :), hope you would understand :)

Your portraits have something very real and "touchable" like remembrances of days gone past, Srna! The expression on the face of that boy is captured at the best possible moment.
By the way, do you wait for the right moment, or do you take a sequence of photos in order to catch the right moment?
A very good one with only a bit of overexposure on the face at the right of the nose, but it is not that much, really.

PERFECT Srna!!!! Not a dramatic . . . but rather, an intimate portrait!!!! Wonderful expression and a beautiful capture of it toned perfectly in B&W! The eyes and the innocence shine here . . . and it's just so very well done!! :) Normally I agree with Shirley but - ONCE in a while - it IS just great to get a view of these lil guys and girls like the one you present here! Hi again Srna,
A couple of other suggestions to keep in mind. If planned of course, you could use an umbrella for a light diffuser. A light coloured material that the sun comes through just a little will work to stop that kind of over exposure. Also you can "bracket" your exposure. ( take multiple shots with different exposures and pick the best one. Obviously, none of this helps in a candid, spur of the moment situation. :)

Hi Srna,
I can see why you may have picked one of my portraits out to comment on. This one is obviously very much along the same lines as far as composition goes. It is a very effective pose. It may be one of the only times a dead in the centre position for the subject works very well. The lighter brighter style of toning brings out the eyes very nicely in this shot, but areas of the left cheek and left side of the nose are sort of too bright and burned out. You should try this exact same pose again on a less bright day. I bet you will like the results even better than this one.
