Taken at Lost Lagoon, Stanley Park, Vancouver, BC, Canada. The Heron's are a little more used to people here which allowed me to get very close. I tried to avoid the birds in the background but couldn't because of other clutter in the scene. I think I could have done without the big rock in the bottom left as well.
Nice capture, Katie. The rock there is perfectly OK with no distraction. Hope you had a better exposure. Its pretty low on contrast. But the subject is very good. Best wishes.
This is a wonderful image. I've spend quite a bit of time trying to capture something similar without much success. Makes me appreciate all the more your photo here.
looks a liitle under but a nicely handled image....I do agree with you, the rock does pull especially due to its brightness but it is not a detriment to this frame....nicely done.....
First of all, I wanna say that I'm SO HAPPY to see someone else here uses a Pentax PZ-1 camera. :) They're nice, aren't they? *grin*
Now, to the picture. GREAT JOB! :) Nicely framed, good light and exposure, and, really, I don't find that rock to be much of a distraction at all. If anything, it adds a nice element of "nature" to the image, but, it might've been more effectively placed to the right of the bird. Of course, such compositions are sometimes impossible when dealing with animals. They don't tend to want to pose for hours on end to let us get that perfectly composed shot of them. :) I dunno...I'm rather early in my learnings of all this, so I might not know what I'm talking about. :) Very well done. You go, girl! :)
Well done Katie. Isn't it wild how you (for me anyway)I finally take time to notice what's in my view finder and I see everything now. Little pieces of trash, etc...How do you get rid of that and get a shot like this, huh? You did a fine job, tho. Great as a matter of fact.
