Very good, and very interesting! Before I read your text, I was actually thinking about how similar the background is to the bird, and thought for myself that camouflage in nature is really interesting study! Super quality, as always!

Dan!...Great job..what a rare moment! Very well captured..I had to look twice to see the chick, then found the eggs. I can see why you had a hard time spotting them without the mother being there...wonderful camoflage from nature..amazing image...congrats to you! Bill

Fantastic photo, I know around Ohio they lay their eggs on the rodaside in the gravel and it is impossible to tell where they are. Many may not believe but these birds rarely get more than 6" to 8" in height which makes this a great shot.....congrats.

Wow, Dan, I'm glad you didn't put this bird in the freezer for 20 minutes or so, to get her that close! Beautiful image, great sharpnes, wonderfull how nature gives this chick such a perfect camouflage! Congrats to this shot! Kind regards Ellen

Excelent pic. I dont know if you know, it but these Killdeers cross during their migration for Peru, I am very fond of the ornithology and for many years I worked helping some North American biologists capturing these birds to mark them for the study of their migration. here we calls them Killdeer of double necklace (Chorlito de doble collar) in spanish.

Hi Dan, This image is just beautiful! I haven't seen a Killdeer in years, used to see them in Long Beach, never in San Diego. Talk about natural camoflage!! So many baby birds are 'naked', I'm surprised to see all this one's feathers/fuzz! The Mom is so pretty, nice photography, her eyes are spectacular! Great detail!

Nice detail and light. feel it should be more to the right than at present but maybe you were trying to keep the birds head clear of the white and black background to provide a better seperation.

Great shot and very interesting to hear how you managed to get it. I can see how it would be one with the background, if it wasn't for the DOF, that makes this picture outstanding, it would be hard to see the bird. Ivan

Wow! Amaising close up, Dan! Great shot, and razor sharp. Thanks for providing the insights of how you managed to capture this shot, Must've taken quite some time! That chick is very well camouflaged, and I like the attentiveness of the mother, watching over her new born. Took me some time to spot it. Very professional job, my compliments!
When I stumble on a bird or animal on the occasional hike, they always duck away, a natural reaction, but difficult to shoot... I'll hope to have a go with a blind soon, though.
Cheers,
Hugo
