About The scan did not come out quite as sharp as i was hoping.
The drastic backlighting was deliberate on this as I liked the dramatic feel with the two figures opposing each other.
I would really appreciate your feedback.

yeah i agree with the crop.. the picture is beautiful.. i loved the angle and composition.. try playing around with PS... add colors to the clouds for more dramatic effect... but without colors it's beautiful as well..

I also agree, that the crop coud be improved. Here is my humble suggestion.
Also feel like the image is a little soft, perhaps the scan as you mentioned?

Thanks for the comment Howard.
In fact from the moment I took the picture to the final printing, I deliberately left the large foreground of black in. I felt that it made for a more interesting cmposition.
Using the top third of the image for the subject seemed right , and with the girls looking in opposite directions, the centre seemed correct too. I did not want to cut short one of the persons lines of vision as I think it would weaken the image.

I can feel the tension between the two figures and the backlit silhouette makes if more effective. I wonder, however if the image would be stronger if most of the black area at the bottom were cropped out - I kept holding up my hand to block it out, but am undecided whether or not it's better that way.
