Thanks for your honest input Harry. I agree it's definitely not one of my best images. I'm still thinking about how to make it more dynamic. All the best, Joe

Thanks very much Onie, I'm glad it's ok with you that I used your idea. I still think there must be more that can be done to give it impact. All the best, Joe

Hi Joe, Honestly this one doesn’t clue for me, I guess this is my opinion; personally I’m speechless of some given awards. I feel many photographers have been trapped to that. But if you like it that's all matter :) Harry

~~GRIN~~ Joe... I am truly honored and flattered to have helped with the idea Sir...:)))
Love this, because those turnings give added movement and *life*... Gives a reason for the lathe, it's reason for being...:))) There is truly nothing like the feel, smell and ambience of wood when worked...:)))
Extra nice DoF and composition Joe...:)))
Onie... ~~GRIN~~

Hi Michele. Thanks very much for another great critique. The chuck connects the piece you are turning on the lathe, usually a bowl, to the lathe, Looking at the image I posted for Riny the lathe is on the left, the bowl's on the right and the chuck is in the middle connecting the two together so the bowl will spin and you can shape the bowl. The chuck is connected to the lathe by a threaded connection much like a big nut on a bolt. The chuck connects to the bowl usually by jaws that clamp on to the bottom of the bowl or by a big screw that is screwed into the bowl. Is that clear as mud? :) :) :) Best regards, Joe

Nice image but I don't have a clue how these things work--My loss I know-- as I saw Onie's as well and couldn't figure it out, and now yours--- I see they are concentric and I loved your bowls but how they work is a mystery for me at this point :(( I do like the tones of the metal, and love the wooden shavings !Also enjoy the great lighting !! Good shot Joe !
Best wishes, Michele~

Hi Riny, I have attached a image showing the chuck in use. The chuck is fastened on to the lathe on the left, a bowl I am working on is being held in the chuck on the right. Hope this helps make it more clear. Thanks for the comment. All the best my friend, Joe

Way to go Joe . . . a novel approach to the project!! Clarity is good and the natural setting in wood chips was inspired. :)
