Masterful use of short focal length. Your staff choice image on tyhe front page has brought your work to my attention and I must say I am thoroughly enjoying your portfolio!

Yes I love wide too. I got the Nikkor 12 - 24 lens. It's a great lens. At the 24 mm end it's one sharp cookie. Do you remember Cynthia van de Loo? She was in that first class you took at Canterbury Summer School. Saw some of her work in an exhibition in Dunedin yesterday. Cheers John

Hi John
Yeah heard good things about the D200. Same with the 1Ds not many images to a 1 Gig card. It's so nice to have full frame though I love my wide angle.
Take care Mark

Thanks Mark. So far the D200 is performing very well. I have not encountered any of the problems with banding that others seem to be having. I also never had any problems with my D70 or G3. I guess we get a better class of import here in NZ.
Out of camera the colour rendition is very good and the camera has a better dynamic range than the D70. It's nice to be able to use my old manual lens. Just tell the camera the focal length and max aperture and get TTL metering.
On the down side 60 raw pics per 1 gig card and the files open up at 50 + megs each. 2 gigs of ram on the PC works fine though. At the moment it's probably the best speced camera for the price.
I see you are now using a 1Ds. That's a whole lota camera if your'e not making money out of it.
Cheers John

I Agree John - your version is much better. One suggestion, I like the textures in the sky above the shelter in the original - it is a shame this is lost in the final version.
Incredible perspectives though - I gotta get me an ultra wide lens!

Thanks Steve. Here is the original. I felt the right handside side of the frame spoiled the symmetry. Regards John

Back in the hey day of NZR they conjured up all sorts of off the agenda stuff in their workshops I know but I hadn't heard about this temple in Oamaru. :)

Aw, you just had to show me this shot! I've been really wanting a new lens and I saw Canon's 11-17mm would be just the ticket.
THIS is why I want that lens! Nice shot, John.

Hi John - interesting perspective - makes for a great composition. The inclusion of the Oamaru sign given an interesting contrast to the mirroed background. Seamless PS work though - well done
