Fabulous shot. Makes this mountain look really wild and high. Nice perspective with foreground and background. The shadow on the foreground really helps it stand out.

Isn't it strange how perspective affects out view? I understand that Stac Pollaidh is about 600m high - a mere hill - but it looks like a really high mountain here. Compare this with the hills above my home in Tarifa, which are actually over 800m high but really do look like hills...

Ah yes, good to see the drinking straws are out again! Is this the start of a new series of a subject that you do so well?

Striking in its simplicity and colours.

Maybe Peter has a point though - I was looking for a real sharpness in the centre but it just doesn't seem quite there...

This works so well, with the colours against the background. And I like the way the snow seems to fade into the UF background. This is a marvellous image which must have involved a major stitching effort.

As you've CC'd this, let me make take a closer look.

It looks like a fascinating building, but I feel the image is a little unbalanced - too much sky and not enough of the cathedral. I would like to see more of what's in the foreground (although you may have excluded this intentionally). I also find the two trees on the left lead my eyes away from the main subject.

Looks like there's a statue at the top of the stairs, in front of the cathedral, but this is somewhat lost against the background. A viewpoint further left could help here, so that the statue appears against the sky.

Hope this gives you some ideas,
John

Ah yes, the benefits of going digital! Though even with film there's nothing (except cost, perhaps) against using a range of settings. And I find that the onboard monitors of digital cameras are generally not sufficient to fully judge the result and so end up taking shots with a range of settings anyway. I just don't have to print them all...

What surprises in this image is the sharpness of the leaves on either side and the softness of the leaves in the middle. This is a nice touch that might be emphasised with a slightly tighter crop, leaving these leaves along the diagonal and eliminating those at top right. I like the strong pink tones against the green.
