Beautifully taken and presented. I really like the 'motion' in the stem. Lovely use of the light.

Easy -- saw this from the road, parked the car on the shoulder, scrambled down the bank, stood on some rotten branches, fell like a sack of potatoes when they broke yet kept my camera safe (I can grow new skin but not a new Canon), stepped carefully out into the shallow swamp, holding on to a small tree, and made the photo. Fun!

The netting might be to keep large objects like stones or bricks from penetrating the glass. Sort of like the meshing that you see in the cockpits of NASCAR vehicles.

I'm curious -- can anyone tell me the purpose of the netting that was draped over this van? It was part of the crowd-control police effort.

Thanks for sharing your pictures of the GOP convention zone, I really enjoyed looking at them. Hopefully things will stay relatively calm even for G.B.'s arrival.
Unlike yourself, I purposely avoided the area as much as I could although I did have dinner at a diner just across the street from the post office. I shot 2 rolls of mostly "touristy" photos so there won't be any images of the "convention". It's going to take a while before I can scan them, my computer broke before I left for NYC and I haven't had a chance to put it back together yet.
