Konstantin, six by sis bulls are very common in the park. They have learned its a safe haven for them with abundant cows. Not uncommon to see harems of 30 or more per bull. This was the middle of the rut and towards evening if you settle into a trail that borders the meadows you can hear them calling and find a place to set up to intercept them. Burned foreground was because this scene happened suddenly and lasted for 3 quick shots. Got what I got :-D

Congrats Darryl ! I like this ! The composition is excellent, the lighting really separates the butterfly from the foliage, and the black sets off so much more subtle colors in the wings. DOF is superb for this shot too. The way they seem to always be in motion they can sure be hard to capture with intricate details. Nicely done !

Congrats Srna ! The soft light and glow really set this apart from a standard macro, brings the eye in gradually, well done !

Congrats Marian ! Excellent photo ! I really like the soft palette, the colors of the boats and structure are near identical to the sky, making a really nice soft beautiful scene. Well done !

Appreciated Clay ! Very minor touchup in PS and NikonView, getting much needed experience with both. Tried like crazy to get the reflection out on the upper left of his head, but i just don't know how. Im just glad it came out like it did !

Thank you Fabrice ! That was my goal with this animal, to get a good portrait / Expression / Eye shot. I need practice and this was a good challenge.

Thank you Paul ! Light and color were up to Mother Nature. Got lucky shooting through glass on a high key day, a good challenge to learn from. One of my favorite animals.

Thanks Paul ! This thing was tough to focus on, a whole lot going on with its head, contrast, etc. And it woouldn't stay still ! Great practice with the new lens.

I'll second the first comment , I really like your recent offerings. This image is composed extremely well ! Great color graduation that splits the image perfectly. The leaf adds a great spot of color to keep the eye moving over the scene. Can't wait to see more !

This is an excellent scene Barbara! I think the toy adds some sorrow to the picture that gives it a bit more desolation and a sense of abandonment. Textures are spot on, a drabness that works quite well for the project. A definite keeper ! Well done !

Looks like an old rusty car hood with a washer nozzle.

Interesting perspective, seems more like a sculpture . Clever image !

Konstantin - I've really been enjoying your B&W work lately ! This one really reminds me of some of the "Old West" photos here is the US. Very timeless feel to them. Rugged, desolate, and a great portrayal of such a lifestyle. Very well done !

Im with ya there Clay. My goal that day was to capture as much detail as possible while still capturing them in the natural setting. Lots of waiting and wandering around for the right light, position, background, etc while not disturbing the animals. Dang Bulls are very active herding the cows, so just a shutter click and its something totally different. I wasn't too thrilled with the full image - too much bland color - so i decided this crop kept all the elements together well enough.

Thanks for the kind words Darryl ! Yes, its the rut out here, usually Mid Sept thru Mid October. Im no stranger to wild animals in mountainous terrain, and is exactly why i use the 70-200 2.8, on the DX body it gives me 300mm on the top end. Plenty of room to keep safe :) The above image is about a 75% center crop, the critter was approx 40 - 50 yds away. More concerned with his ladies than me.

You know, im not usually a big fan of manipulated images, but THIS WORKS !! The vibrant yellows against a gray background really pops ! Makes me think early morning cypress swamp, with moss hanging off the limbs, faint calls of birds.... Beautifully done Barbara
