Hi Gary, thanks for your comment. To be honest I thought it would do quite well. On the original shot the sky was uninteresting so I put the clouds in and toned it to make it look more interesting. Any way I am glad you liked it.

Gain superb I like the way it initially reminds me of empty muscle shells.

Barry I am impresssed at your skill in making the mundane look interesting. You have a fantatistic portfolio and a most excellent eye for the abstract.

Hi Jen

Well on days when the lighting is a bit flat but the sky is a bit broody I will take shots over a range of exposures to try and capture both the light and dark areas that you cannot normally get in a single shot due to the limitations of digital sensors. I then load 3 images at different exposures into Dynamix Photo HDR (Free trial available at http://www.mediachance.com)to produce an image that then has a greater tonal range. Initially the preview image looks rubbish as your monitor can show all the tones so you then "Tone Map" the image. I find the preset "Eye Catching" produces less extreme results, just make sure you increase the brightness and reduce the colour saturation settings. This technique is always good for beefing up a moody sky. If you have a go let me know how you get on.

Regards

Mark

Hi Nichole , thanks for taking the time to comment. This is a popular tourist spot. I took the picture from a viewing platform surrounded by a low wooden fence so I couldn't step back to get in more foreground. I didn't jump over the fence either as there is much to stand on. I just had to make the best of what I had access to.

Hi Indro

You certainly know your stuff. This is an HDR made from five RAWS at one stop gaps. The HDR process produced noise in the sky so I used aggressive setting in my noise reduction program to try and correct this. To be honest the background was soft anyway so I wasn't worried. The sun was behind the building hence the flare that wasn't caused by dodging and burning. I will have to go back again to take areally sharp one.

Thanks for taking time to comment.

Regards

Mark

Nice Composition and HDR work, I like the image overall but I do think the brightspot needs dimming down a bit.

Hi Martin, "Missed the point" I think I did. It was just the sky was so white in places that I was convinced it was burnt out. I must admit I find mist very difficult to photograph well I think you always need something looming in the background to show it is actually misty.

Mark
