Thank you Ian...I think he looks sad.
I softened the photo a bit in photoshop; this is was my basic workflow with the cropped photo:
1) Layers>duplicate 2) Then I applied 25 Guassian blur to the duplicated layer 3) Next, I selected "Hard Light"
It gives it a softened high contrast sort of dreamy feel...

Thank you Sergio! You use the same process as I use for IR photos and the same lens...I love the 50mm 1.8.
And yes, the "hot spot" with the 18-55 is VERY bad...
Thanks again - by the way, your english is MUCH better than my Spanish!

Sergio - this is gorgeous!
EXCELLENT composition...we are using almost the same camera and the same lens...love my little 50mm.
Do you find that you get a hotspot with the 18-55mm lens?
Your IR shots are so crisp and clear - I just bought my IR filter, so I'm trying different things out. What F-stop do you shoot your IR shots at?

Thanks Robbie - sounds like a cool process...unfortunately, I'm stuck using Paint Shop Pro for the time being. This program is very similar to Photoshop, but a bit more simple. That being said, PSP doesnt have the IMAGE>APPLY IMAGE option. It does sound a bit like the process listed here tho http://www.sxc.hu/blog/post/747

Hi Robert - I have been using your work flow (inverting the red and blue channels)on some of my photos and found that it works well. Thanks for the links on workflow...I'll be experimenting. NICE portfolio by the way ;)

Will do - if you're interested in purchasing on, I suggest going through ebay...all of the stores around here wanted $60 (US) for the same identical filter that I purchased from ebay (ebay vendor: sobefoto) for $35.00 - shopping included. I had it 2 days after I bought it. The photo stores said it would take 10 days for it to come in.
Ebay is the only way to go for this...I'll keep you posted...

Thanks Robert.
I used a Hoya R72 Infrared filter and then adjusted levels in the Red and Blue channels in Photoshop.
I recenty bought this filter and have been experimenting with it....it's kind of a pain in the butt because you can't see through the viewfinder to compose th shot.

Thanks himanshu...it was fairly simple and you don't need alot of equipment - Just a camera, and external flash off to the side, a tripod and a stick of incense (I like Nag Champa).
I also had one spot light on the smoke coming from the same side as the external flash, but this isn't critical...Turn all of the lights out and experiment.
This particular image was inverted in paintshop pro using the "Negative Image" selection...this is how I got the white background (it was originaly black).
If you google "Photographing smoke" you will hit some tutorials.
