Steve this is awesome........
I love the background and seeing his breath...it's breath taking.
What a beautiful Bull Moose.
This image really does inspire me as I have a image in my mind that I have been working very hard to find...A Bull Moose, large one like this, standing in front of pine trees with the ground covered with snow and his breath showing like this image.
Now that we have snow I have been driving to a area with moose about 150 miles away and searching for this image...I will get it ! maybe not this year maybe not next...but I will get it.
Thank you for sharing this image and the inspiration you have unknowingly gave me.
My Complements.

Bob, for this image to work, I had to isolate a small part of the mountain range, and find the part that showed the drama I wanted to convey. So, I started with an 80-200, and eventually I shot some with a 300, and a 500. This particular shot was a tight crop from one of the 80-200 shots. And just to show I'm human, I mistakenly threw out all the images in a folder I had on the desktop, and now I don't have any of them anymore.... oh well, the mountains are just outside my windows, so I'll have to work on it some more!

Stunning although the snow angels ruin this shot. Kidding of course even your camera would be hard pressed to see snow angels on those slopes. Fantastic landscape. The lighting is really dramatic. Check for an email from me btw.

Love that reflection and the saturated colours. My only nit is that leave turned up in the background. Those must be some strong lily pad leaves in order to hold up a bird.

Wow stunning detail and color saturation. Nice creativity in getting that backlighting.

I finally got out and made use of my dSLR the way it was intended to be used. I'll have to e-mail you to tell you about it. I'm also curious to hear what projects you've been on.

excellent image.. love the reflection.. guess the only thing I could add is to do some cropping off the top to bring even more focust to the bird and its reflection.. good work

Kim, fireweed leaves turn red in the autumn. Clorophyll pigments break down, and anthrocyanin (the red pigments) take over. The yellow blotch is just a part of the leaf that has broken down further. It would have turned brown very soon. The leaf was too thin to shoot in any way other than having the main vein of the leaf in the center.

Excellent colour combo here... it really has punch! I've often wondered what this stuff was called... now I know I just have to ask you!
I like how they are placed, with a few of them ending within the scene. And of course, the colour is amazing.
When did you make the switch into digital? How are you enjoying it?
